Pumpkin HeadKids love Edmonton’s spookiest festival of the year – the Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm, which attracts families from across the nation to Edmonton’s countryside. An autumn outing to the pumpkin patch and this charming month-long Halloween festival is an annual tradition. There’s been over 1 million guests to the farm have enjoyed the farm since 1956! New this season! The Alberta Sculpturers Association create Straw Bale Art on the Farm. On the edge of the MEGA Corn Maze, a large headless horseman guards its entrance.

Using round and square hay bales, corn stalk, paint, chicken wire, pumpkins and a few LED lights, the headless horseman will come alive.

The story of the headless horseman is part of Irish folklore and dates back long ago. In many variations of this story, the horseman carries a pumpkin or jack-o-lantern as his head in the crook of his arm, and occasionally holds it up high to gaze over long distances (perhaps looking over tall corn?).

During pumpkin harvest season, his story comes alive again for all to see.

There are over 50 family friendly activities to enjoy at the farm. October weekends at the Pumpkin Patch promises a season of huge family fun, and nowhere are the good times more evident than at all the events taking place at this magical family farm. From shootin’ pumpkins out of a cannon, to screaming through a haunted house, to creeping through a corn maze…in short, this might be the most unusual festival you’ll experience this year! Prairie Gardens is located 25 km north of Edmonton, Alberta.

Admission to the Farm includes a full day of family fun and over 50 activities and Halloween fun on the farm.
