Prairie Gardens and Greenhouses is both a center for family farm fun and a charming garden center just minutes north of Edmonton, Alberta.  We offer great gardening experiences, Mother's Day Spring Garden Party workshops, and gardening seminars as spring arrives!  We grow our own bedding plants, perennials, herbs, and gorgeous container garden plants and hanging baskets. Pansies, violas, lettuce, strawberries, raspberries, honeyberries and rhubarb are all "hardened-off" and ready to plant right now.  Flowers are abundant and they can’t wait to be planted and appreciated.   I think I will put some out this weekend; I just can’t wait any longer!  Even if it drops below freezing (these plants will be fine to -7) these plants enjoy cool roots and will quickly get established before the hot dry weather arrives.

Custom Planting We will custom plant your patio container and grow it on in our greenhouses so it is beautiful by the first week of June.  Take advantage of the offer and don’t bother getting your kitchen sink all full of dirt…we’ll take care of it for you! Or you can choose from our thousands of Ready-to-take Designer Baskets - which we have specially created with a mixture of gorgeous flowering plants for sunny or shady locations. 	Hanging Baskets Each basket is individually created on-site to ensure suitability for our local climate. Choose from a colorful selection of 5,000 arrangements, from the traditional to the more exotic.
	Container Flowers Create your own striking patio planters. Don't have a green thumb? No problem, we can take the work out of gardening with our onsite planting advice. You pick the container and we do the rest! We grow over 5000 containers and hanging baskets in our greenhouses every spring, and specilaze in unusually gorgeous ideas! We are happy to custom plant for you.  Just bring us your containers in February, March and April for best results!  We also grow for many restaraunt patios across Edmonton. Please call for a quote.
	Fruit Trees, Shrubs, Hedging & Vines Add beauty, color and equity to your landscape. Alberta-hardy, reliable and very ornamental.  This Apple is Gemini, which produces on trees that are only 3 years old! 	Perennials They're tough, reliable, low care plants that bloom year after year! Perfect for the blazing sun, shady glen or thirsty hillside. Check out our succulents and other special varieties. Fall Gardening Tips:  Peonies, Daylilies and Siberian Iris are very hardy in Alberta, and require little care in preparation for winter.  After a killing frost has killed the foliage, just trim the leaves back to about 6" above the ground to catch the snow for a little protection.  Mother nature will do the rest!
	Water Gardening Discover the soothing energy of water ponds! Take the plunge and create a paradise with our collection of water plants and pond accents.
	Grow Your Own Strawberries Get those juicy mouth-wattering berries!  We grow 4 acres of strawberries in our gardens, and know what works in Alberta! Alberta hardy July bearing varieities included: Kent, and Honeyoe.  Cover these with a straw or wood shaving mulch the last week of October for the highest production.  They set thier flower buds in the fall for next year. The best everbearing Day-neutral berries are Tristar, Hecker, and Seascape. These varieties repeat bloom and ripen from May to October. The oldfashioned everbearers - Fort Laramie are very hardy and do not need winter protection.  You can pick your own fresh Alberta strawberries from our fields in July! Call ahead. 780.921.2272.
