Year Round Program
Love working with plants and people? Horticultural and agri-tourism operations including greenhouse crop production, retail sales, watering, plant displays, and customer service. Summer and fall operations include mazes, festivals, and the famous Haunted Pumpkin Festival.
Assistant Grower/Agri-tourism Specialist (Full Time) Our fully diversifed operation is looking for a full time assistant grower / agri-tourism specialist.
Ideal Candidate: Must possess knowledge of bedding, hanging basket production, market garden production, agri-tourism and have experience, horticultural degree or diploma.
Requirements:
Horticultural experience or education
Agri-tourism experience or education
Microsoft Office proficiency
Public relations experience or education
Must enjoy working with adults and children
Driver's license
Successful candidate is fun-loving, detail oriented and focused, possesses effective listening, learning & communication skills, can apply strong multitask capabilities to performing job tasks successfully in a fast paced environment. Spring Garden Centre Program
Hanging Basket Specialist (Jaunary - June) Experience in creating hanging baskets, propagation, planting, and basket managment. This is our specialty! We work with Proven Winners, rare and unusual plants, and create designer originals.
Greenhouse Assistants (February - June) Enjoy gardening, and would love to learn more about how to grow cool plants for Alberta conditions? We will teach you how to plant, pinch, and sell flowers! You can extend your season with us if you have an interest in our agri-tourism operations.
Garden Centre Assistants Sales (April - June) Enjoy people and plants? Assist with garden centre sales and growing plants in our peak spring sales season. This is a short-term committment with time off for the summer holidays.
Requirements:
Spring Greenhouse and Garden Centre Operations:
- enjoy gardening and people
- Weekdays - be available to work Monday to Friday (9am-3pm)
- Or Part-time Weekends / Evenings- be available weekends and / or evenings through May and June.
- Greenhouse, Garden Centre experience or horticultural training a requirment for lead positions.

Agri-Tourism Coordinator
Description: This is a part-time seasonal contract position from spring to fall that involves a wide range of activities throughout our varied seasons. Marketing plan development and execution, event planning and execution, and implementation of farm fun and festival operations for Prairie Gardens agri-tourism operations. Agri-Tourism Adventure Guide
Summer (June - August)
Love being outdoors, strawberries, and having fun? Help our U-Pickers have fun out in the strawberry feilds, learn about our on-farm food services, summer tours, on-farm festivals, assist customers with horticultural questions, and our horticultural operations. Part time hours available on weekdays or weekends.
Summer to Fall (July, August, September, October)
Maze Masters! Always wished you had a job that you could tell folks to get lost? Have fun at the Corn Maze with maze operations, customer care, retail sales, phone services, guiding tours, hosting birthday parties, admissions, on-farm festivals, and our horticultural operations including selling the produce we grow! As the season moves from summer to fall, have fun being creative and help set up our festive scarecrows, fall scenes, and pumpkin paradise.

Educational Tour Guides (Weekdays September - October)
Description: Our Educational Tour Guides work Monday – Friday 9am-3pm guiding pre-booked school groups and daycares through the wonders of the harvest season. The children learn about how pumpkins grow, watch a puppet show and take a tour of the pumpkin patch on the wagon ride. Older grades learn about the mazes and explore our a variety of mazes, petting farm, and games area during their visit.
Requirements:
In order to work on our Educational Tours Fall-Crew you must:
be available to work Monday to Friday (9am-3pm)
from September 15th (First Aid Training)– October 31
have your own transportation to and from Prairie Gardens.
be available for School Tour Guide Training starting September 15th, 2009.

Haunted Attractions
Description: The Haunted Attractions Scare-Crew is assigned to The Haunted Farm House, the Pumpkin Cannon, where guests shoot pumpkins out of an air cannon. These pirates use a variety of props, costumes and scare techniques to entertain and frighten guests.
Live Shows
Description: The Live Shows Fall Crew includes Strolling Characters, Puppeteers, and Face Paint Make-up Artists. Strolling characters entertain the crowds during opening hours. They also spend time with our birthday parties during their visit to Prairie Gardens. Puppeteers perform our puppet show and entertain the crowds between shows while strolling with the puppets. Our make-up artists transform children into festive creatures with face paints. Pumpkin Races are fun and interactive shows that require the skills of a charismatic 'cheater' referee!
Operations
Description: The Operations Fall-Crew includes Tractor Operators, Maintenance and Creative Crew, Parking, and Custodial Attendants. Our friendly energetic parking attendants greet and park cars in our parking lot. Our custodial staff ensures that the site looks pristine for the many visitors to Prairie Gardens. Tractor operators provide safe and fun wagon rides, and maintenance and creative helps set the scenes, animatronics operations, and on-site set building.
Guest Relations, On-Site Sales & Craft Programs
Description: Our guest relations staff works at the admission booth, or as greeters at the front gate. Onsite sales staff work in the Boo-Tique or Trick or Treat Cabin selling pumpkins and Halloween décor. Craft programs include painting pumpkins and craft building stations. Extra fun includes 'Fishin' Ponds, Pirate's Pull, and Dragon's Treasure stations.
Food Services
Description: The Food Services Fall-Crew includes Pumpkin Pie Café, Snack Jacks, the Corn Palace, and the Ice Cream Stoop. The Fall-Crew in each of these locations would be responsible for preparing and selling scrumptious Halloween Food.
Requirements:
Prior experience in Food Service is an asset, but not necessary.
